Do subluxations hurt?

Do subluxations hurt?

Subluxations do not always hurt. For chiropractic, pain is not the only indicator when assessing a subluxation, and this is because only 10% of nerve fibres transmit pain.

Let’s think for a moment: many changes in the body progress over time without giving obvious symptoms, and only show up at more advanced stages. Something similar happens with the spine and the nervous system.

In other words, when the body spends a long time with interferences in the nervous system, these can affect how it works and, over time, imbalances can appear that the body ends up expressing in different ways.

As we already know, a subluxation is related to chemical stress (pollution, poor diet, chemical products), physical stress (falls, poor posture, injuries) and emotional stress (fear, tension, frustration).

And who isn’t constantly exposed to these factors?

From birth to our hectic daily life, we live alongside them; they are part of life. However, we have the freedom and the responsibility to reduce their effects by leading healthy lifestyles, in which chiropractic plays an important role.

If subluxations don’t always hurt… how do I know if I have any?

Good question, and that’s what we’re here for:

  • We use specific techniques to assess whether there are interferences in your nervous system.
  • We use several tools that help us understand the state of how you function.

The assessment focuses on how you function and not only on how you feel, because symptoms, pleasant or not, are not always good indicators of health. It’s something we can all benefit from learning.
